Why do TEREA sticks not work in older IQOS models?
The two systems heat completely differently. Every IQOS before ILUMA has a metal blade that slides into the stick and heats it from the center. ILUMA has no blade — it induction-heats a metal strip built into the stick itself. That is why TEREA and SENTIA have no slot for a blade, and why you should not force one into an older device: you will damage both the stick and the heater.
Can I use TEREA and SENTIA in the same device?
Yes. Both lines are made for ILUMA, so you can swap between them at any point with no setting to change and no cleaning in between — one of the practical advantages of a bladeless system.
Does the ILUMA need cleaning?
Not the way older models did. There is no blade touching the tobacco, so there is no heating chamber to scrape out. Wiping the outside and the stick opening occasionally is enough.
How is the ILUMA i different from the ILUMA?
They take exactly the same sticks. The difference is in the device: the i models add a status display and features that adapt while you smoke. For choosing which sticks to buy it makes no difference at all.
